Credential Overview

SECONDARY EDUCATION APPLICATION DEADLINE EXTENDED to April 1, 2024! 

To become a middle school or high school teacher you will need a Single Subject Credential.

This one year program will give you a preliminary credential that will allow you to apply for your official credential. This program offers face-to-face and online classes and can place you in schools around the state. Our classroom discussions are enriched by the inclusion of teaching experiences from a diverse array of communities.

Apply for the 2023-24 Secondary Education Credential Program

Applications for the Secondary Education Program will open October 1, 2023 on Cal State Apply. Click the Eligibility and Applications link to apply. DEADLINE extended to April 1, 2024!

 

Preliminary single subject credential areas 

Art, Biology, Chemistry, English, Geoscience, Industrial Technology, Math, Music, Physical Education, Physics, History/Social Science, World Languages.

Undergraduate Pathway Programs

The following undergraduate programs, offered by other Humboldt academic departments, allow you to waive the subject matter exams--a requirement for the Secondary Education Credential Program.
