Undergraduate Pathways

Credential candidates come from a variety of academic backgrounds. The following undergraduate programs at HSU provide an education emphasis. All Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science majors are welcome to apply to any of the programs.

Elementary Education Majors

Liberal Studies Elementary Education (LSEE)

The LSEE major provides focused, hands-on university coursework aligned with clinical practice in elementary schools that allows students who complete this integrated credential pathway* to earn a BA degree and be recommended for a Multiple Subject Credential in four years.

Child Development Elementary Education (LSCE)

The LSCE major focuses on the integration of knowledge of the subject matter taught at the elementary level with knowledge of the characteristics of children and of the theories and methodologies appropriate to working with school age children. This option is a second way for students to prepare to enter into teacher credential programs.

Indian Teacher & Educational Personnel Program

The Indian Tribal & Educational Personnel Program has grown over four decades to support Native American Indian students in a wide array of academic disciplines within the three colleges:  Arts, Humanities & Social Science; Natural Resources & Sciences; and Professional Studies.
