John Y. Lee is professor in the School of Education. He earned is B.A. in Psychology with aminor in philosophy from the University of Illinois, Chicago (UIC), and Ph.D. in EducationalPsychology, also from UIC. He teaches classes in educational assessment, educationalfoundation, educational psychology, elementary math education, pedagogy, school-student-social development, senior seminars, and student teaching supervision. He has also taughtdevelopmental psychology, educational research, inferential statistics, portfolio assessment,research and data analysis for school counselors in undergraduate through doctoral programs.His research and evaluation areas include school system and teacher education reform, school-university partnerships to improve teacher quality and student outcomes, and the role ofinformational assumptions on judgments and action. He has used his research and evaluation toestablish programs such as the School To University (STU) and Urban Teacher Education (UTE)programs to improve student learning and attainment through building school-university-business partnerships to improve educational and career opportunities. These programs havebeen recognized by numerous national professional organizations for contributions to improvingacademic achievement, educational and life opportunities, and life attainment for underservedstudents and communities.
