Certificate of Clearance
Prior to being allowed into any classroom to complete observations, fieldwork, or student teaching, you must obtain a Certificate of Clearance* through the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC). This process is separate from the Blue Card process, meaning you will not be able to use your Blue Card Live Scan results in lieu of obtaining a Certificate of Clearance.
This process can take up to 6 weeks to complete, so please apply for your Certificate of Clearance early!
You will need to complete all steps of the process listed in the instructions.
Certificate of Clearance Instructions and LiveScan form
*Exemption - It is not necessary to obtain a Certificate of Clearance if you can present a copy of a VALID California Certificate or Credential issued by the CTC such as an emergency sub permit, PIP, STSP, Children's Center Permit or Adult Vocational Education Credential.
All previous LiveScans completed for educational or employment purposes are NOT accepted towards the Certificate of Clearance unless you currently hold a document issued by the CTC.
Please contact the School of Education for any questions or concerns regarding your Certificate of Clearance.
